Kids are resilient. We hear this all the time, and yes, kids can be strong and adaptable. But it doesn’t mean that grief isn’t devastating. A child who is grieving the death of a parent, sibling or someone else important to them, needs the same compassion and support as an adult, to adapt to the huge change that comes with being bereaved.
Last year, Winston’s Wish helped over 60,000 bereaved children and young people to find their feet and rebuild their lives after their worlds were turned upside down by grief.
Sadly, there are thousands more who are grieving alone and not getting the support they need.
Your donation will help Winston’s Wish reach grieving children and young people, give them the support they need to cope with their grief and build a life full of hope for the future.
“When my mum died when I was a boy, all these letters and cards came for my dad. We had them all up on the sideboard. But only one or two even mentioned me. And then one letter came that was just for me. The woman that wrote it spoke just to me and talked about my mum and how much she loved me. I’ve still got that letter….And when I hear of someone who has died that had children, I always write to the children. So they know they are remembered, and their grief is important too.”
