What is cryptocurrency?
A digital or virtual currency where transactions are verified and records maintained by a decentralised system, rather than by a centralised authority.
Why is Winston’s Wish accepting cryptocurrency?
We want to be able to reach as many of the children, young people and families in urgent need of support as we can, to do this, we need to make sure that we are reaching would be supporters and are accommodating to the ways they want to give.
We strive to be forward looking in our approach to fundraising as well as when delivering our services, and believe that accepting cryptocurrency will connect us with more people looking to support our cause.
How can I donate cryptocurrency to Winston’s Wish?
We use the platform ‘The Giving Block’ to accept cryptocurrency gifts. You can donate easily by using the widget on this page.

- Enter the amount you would like to donate
- Enter some basic information about yourself and enter an email address for your receipt
- The widget will donate a wallet address which is linked to our own wallet
Is it safe to donate cryptocurrency to Winston’s Wish?
Yes. We work in partnership with the provider The Giving Block, who we believe offers the best level of protection for our charity, our donors and our currency, in a hosted ‘wallet’ using two factor authentication and encryption.
As with all online transactions, you should take care when entering your information and follow reasonable security measures with your personal information.
At present we have chosen to receive cryptocurrency through The Giving Block infrastructure only.

Yes, you will receive a receipt via email
Will Winston’s Wish trade in cryptocurrency?
No. To avoid the risks of fluctuating values, we won’t invest cryptocurrency donations and the widget will automatically release the funds to us at their current value.
