Winston’s Wish, the charity for bereaved children in the UK, is delighted to announce a brand new partnership with Care Of Police Survivors (COPS). The partnership will allow the charity to provide therapeutic support for those bereaved through active police service.

A new partnership has been announced, bringing the two charities together to support families who have been bereaved of a loved one through active police service. Winston’s Wish, the charity for bereaved children, and Care Of Police Survivors, a police charity, are behind the partnership.

Care Of Police Survivors (COPS) are a national charity that provides support for those bereaved through active police service. They were set up in 2003 by Jim McNulty, a retired police officer, and Christine Fulton, whose husband died during police service.

The partnership enables children who have been bereaved of a loved one through active police service to receive specialist therapeutic support. Winston’s Wish were the UK’s first childhood bereavement charity and support more than 40,000 children and their families every year.

“The partnership we have agreed with Winston’s Wish means that we are able to offer families additional support following the death on duty of their Police Officer. The specialist work that Winston’s Wish does with children and young people helps them to build confidence and resilience to achieve their full potential. This partnership will complement the peer support events and services we provide directly, helping families to rebuild their lives.”
